Luminescence Farm is a one of a kind garden of Eden type paradise. It would be ideal for a surf retreat, eco-village, or private estate for the discerning buyer.
Imagine golden Caribbean sunrises and pink volcano sunsets, dolphins splashing behind world-class waves and giant turtles nesting on secluded beaches. The white faced capuchin monkeys now return to the farm because of our trees laden with tropical fruits.
The farm is a one-of-a-kind TITLED 24.6 hectare (60.8 acre) property that is home to a high biodiversity fruit forest and botanical garden. The land was designed and planted to sustain a community by permaculture master Bruce Hill. It stretches from its deep water dock on the protected bay side of Bastimentos all the way to the beach side of the island. The land ends on the sea side near the middle of Wizard Beach, one of the most remote and stunning stretches of sand in Bocas;the property includes the third highest hill on Bastimentos with two distinct ridges running outward along the top of the island that roughly divide the farm in half.
Passing through the gate there are acres of stunning ponds, with multiple levels of canals, and raised islands planted with the most exotic and rarest of grafted fruit trees from all over the world. The farm road winds up through hectares of orchards climbing the bay side of the island. There are multiple hills with panoramic bay views peeking out of the fruit forest which lead up to the high ridge of the top of the island roughly dividing the farm in half.
From the numerous peaks and ridges there are amazing views of the ocean, the bay, the mountains, and the canopy of the farm itself bursting with fruit, flowers, and wildlife. The farm boasts numerous open and airy buildings including a massive split level cathedral-ceiling kitchen, a barn and nursery building, bodega and caretaker’s cabin, and a loft style home.
The land: 24.6 hectares of TITLED land spanning Isla Bastimentos from the bay to ocean. The protected bay of Old Bank has for centuries been among the safest harbors in all Bocas, with a deep water basin right in front of Luminescence Farm allowing for construction of docks to berth even the largest of private boats. The land rises in a seemingly endless series of rippling hills and ridges up to two main promontories with incredible views. In addition to the two most obvious hills there are numerous building sites with amazing potentials, any of which could be legally separated and sold with individual TITLE.
Luminescence Farm has been planted with over 5000 fruit trees of more than 100 species. The list includes, among other things: mango, durian, jackfruit, breadfruit, pineapple, guanabana, sapote, banana, atemoya, mangosteen, avocado, starfruit, lime, wampee, rambutan, pulsan, longan, bilimbi, acerola, cas, cashew apple, langsat, akee, jujube, mamey, egg fruit, abiu, coconut, and many more. The gardens are planted as a seamless fruit forest, a mixed tableau where every twist in the path encounters a new tree in fruit, a new flavor to experience. The farm is incredibly productive and diverse, yet has maintained important view corridors and left key areas open to custom plant species desirable to new owners. The diversity and productivity of the farm has attracted wildlife back to the area including the top mammal on the island – the White Throated Capuchin monkey – and even caiman in the ponds and canals. The Chinampas – the system of interconnected canals and ponds dotted with meandering islands – cover the front four acres of the farm and are planted with some of the most exotic specimens.
