HARMONY HALL LOT DESCRIPTION
The Island of San Andres is a territory of Colombia (S. America) and is located in the Caribbean Sea at approx. 770 km from mainland. The Island is part of 3 Archipelagos that includes San Andres, Providence and Santa Catalina. San Andres is a haven for international tourist and Fishing. In 2000, it was declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, named "Seaflower Biosphere Reserve". San Andres Island is now politically part of Colombia, and was historically tied to the United Kingdom.
Harmony Hall Hill is located less than a block from The Botanical Garden of San Andres (Managed by Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Caribbean Campus), that is a biodiversity reservoir for the island that consist of 9 hectares (22.2 acres). This preserve consist of special vegetation with a collection of live plants in a secondary forest, with a rich blend of plant life from Central America and the Antilles. La Loma (The Hill) is also found in this immediate area, which is home to the Hotel Sol Caribe Campo and many nice family owned Bed and Breakfast. Harmony Hall is also near San Luis beaches.
The lot is vacant but has many fruit, medicinal and other types of trees including, two (2) Sweet Mango trees, two (2) Bamboo trees, a Calabash tree (Totumo), West Indian Elm (Guazuma Ulmifolia) (Guasimo), Almond Tree (Almendro), Mata Raton, Hog/June Plum (Ciruela de Jobo). This property was in the past used for agricultural purposes by owner’s ancestors, hence the presence of so many types of trees. The owners had for some time considered keeping up with tradition by establishing an urban farm of high yield fruits and vegetables, since the land is so fertile and near a popular intersection. This is still a possibility, since a well organized venture of this nature be could potentially be lucrative given that islanders rely heavily on imports.
